LE POÈME DE L'ANGLE DROIT

Between 1947 and 1953, Le Corbusier produced a suite of 19 lithographs and illustrated poems that that can be regarded as an artistic realization of his conception of the world and at the same time as a kind of self portrait. The book entitled "Le poème de l’angle droit" was published in 1955.

The lithographs and texts are arranged in seven zones lettered A-G, and are assigned a thematic title and a color. According to Le Corbusier these lithographs should be arranged axisymmetrically in seven rows in the form of a multi-chain cross above each other, so that they result in a projection wall, which he referred to as "iconostasis".
Each row is dedicated to a specific topic, ranging from the environment and mental and physical elements to the right angle, with which human beings establish their own order.

It is open because
all is present available
knowable
Open to receive
Open also to others
might come and take
The waters flow
the sun provides light
Complexities have woven
their fabric
the fluids are everywhere.
Tools in the hand
Caresses from the hand
Life is tasted through
the kneading of hands
eyesight resides in
palpatation.

Full hand I received
full hand I now give.
